The dental clinic will be closing on 21st November 2003 and after that date we will be based at Ruawai. Consent for treatment forms are to be returned to the dental clinic asap.

MEETING ON
SCHOOL MERGER
The Boards of Trustees of Dargaville High School and Dargaville Intermediate School have set up a working group to look at a possible merger of the two schools.
The working group has not yet decided what to recommend to the two Boards of Trustees. They have narrowed down to two possibilities:
Continue as two separate schools, as we have at present,
Merge the schools to create one school catering for year 7 to 13 (form 1 to 7) students.
There will be a public meeting on Monday 17th November at the Lighthouse at 7.30pm to discuss a possible merger.
Mr Allan Shaw, former Principal of Mahurangi College, will be at the meeting. He has looked at a number of year 7 to 13 schools and has some interesting insights into their operation – and the benefits for students. He will speak and be available to answer questions.
If a merger was to take place the new school’s Board and Principal would have to decide how it would run. However they would probably look at running years 7, 8 and 9 as a school within a school – a type of Middle School.
If this merger happens, the earliest possible would be the beginning of the 2005 school year. That means the majority of students affected would be our year 5 and 6 students, and all subsequent students. All of the current Intermediate students would be at High School by then.
So this is your issue.
This is definitely your chance to have a say. The working group will be taking the views of the people at this meeting very seriously.
Please try and make the meeting or write in to the Merger Working Party c/o the High School.
