DPS SCHOOL NEWS AND EVENTS
The whole school will be involved in our production on Thursday 24th October
7pm at the Epicentre. Parents, caregivers and friends are most welcome
to attend. Tickets will be available at the door $2 per adult and children
are free. Juniors will perform “A Festival of Song.” Middle
syndicate “Tangaroa’s Gift,” a story of a lonely sea
creature who gets given a special gift and the Senior syndicate “The
Pirates Adventure”, a story about a band of shipwrecked pirates
who are reluctant to work for their living. All children have been very
busy rehearsing their parts, it is going to be a great evening and we
look forward to seeing you there. If your child is unable to attend the
evening please let their teacher know.
Senior Syndicate: all children except for the choir are to meet at the
school as arranged, the choir is to be at the Epi-Centre at 6.45pm.
Middle Syndicate: all musicians, narrators and the choir are to be at
the school no later than 6.30pm and all other children 6.00pm.
Junior Syndicate: all juniors to meet at the school at 6.30pm
The PTA will be selling drinks for $1 and Cadbury chocolates for $2 at
the Epicentre on the night of the production. They are also catering for
the school reunion on the 25th October (Friday evening Nibble and Natter)
and are asking for donations of crackers and dips for this occasion as
well as any parents/caregivers able to help on the Friday which will be
greatly appreciated phone Ngaire 439 6259
The next PTA meeting is 12th November 7.30pm in the staffroom.
There has been a price increase in the school lunch orders. Pies and sandwiches
are now $2.50.
MOBILE EAR CLINIC
The mobile ear clinic will be at our school on the 29th & 30th October.
We have been sent a list of the children who are to be seen and they will
be given consent forms to take home this afternoon. These must be completed
and sent back to the office before the date of the visit.
We would appreciate any unpaid school fees being paid before the end of
All Pet Projects must be handed in to Mrs Vincent on Tuesday 29th October.
Cake boxes for the cake stall will be sent home on Tuesday, we would appreciate
baking returned in these to the school hall on Thursday morning.
There will be no Bible on Fridays this term so classes will start at 8.50am.
HEARING & VISION
Due to unforeseen circumstances Sandy Pearce had to postpone the visit
and will now be visiting the school on 21st & 22nd November to check
new entrants and any children who have had previous problems with hearing
OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS
At the Multiplex this Friday 25th October, 7—9.30pm. For children
7yrs—14yrs. Entry $4 includes blades or bring your own. Drinks,
ice-blocks and snacks available. Parents welcome at no charge.
Arapohue School is fundraising by having a kitchen tour on Saturday 2nd
November from 10am—4pm, $15 a ticket. Phone Christine 439 8546 or

DARGAVILLE COMMUNITY GARDENS
On Sunday 27th October from 10am onwards trees are going to be planted.
Come along and plant a tree or just have a look. All trees are provided
and everybody is welcome.
FISH FACTORY YOUTH
Friday 25th October at 7—9pm there is a “Kidz Nite Out”
on the big screen at the Dargaville Baptist Church, 185 Victoria Street.
The movie is “ICEAGE” and is a G Rating. Any age welcome and
entry is a gold coin koha. There will be food for sale: Lollies $1 &
50c, K-bars 40c, Choc bars $1.20, Chips 1.20, Drinks $1.
JUNIOR YOUTH GROUP
Friday 1st November, BBQ, bonfire and fireworks evening. Please bring
a few fireworks and give them to the leaders. This will be held on the
Robertson’s farm, Baylys Beach Road. Phone Alison for more details
439 7798. Cost is $3 including BBQ. For Year 6 – Form 2 children.
DARGAVILLE SWIMMING CLUB
The Dargaville Public Pool will open from Saturday 26th October at 1.30pm,
weather permitting. Dargaville Amateur Swimming Club will have their first
club night on Monday the 4th November 2002 at 5.30pm. There is a swimming
club newsletter available from the office.
Wednesday 6th November, 2002 at Rugby Park, Dargaville. Judging starts
at 10.00am sharp
and is held regardless of the weather. School shirts should be worn and
if you do not have one you may borrow one from the school office but you
must have it washed and returned to the school by the following Monday.
Collect your numbers from Mrs Murphy at the rugby grounds. Please sort
yourselves out into teams of 3 for the school teams event eg 3 lambs,
3 calves or 3 goats of similar size, colour etc. See you there and remember
to have fun.
Dargaville Athletics A.G.M is on the 23rd October, 5.15pm at Selwyn Park
field in the clubrooms. All welcome.
DARGAVILLE TENNIS CLUB
Tennis for juniors is starting on Thursday 24th October at Station Road.
Year 6, Form 1 and 2 children 4—5pm and for Form 3 and upwards 5—6pm.
