PTA NEWS
Next meeting Monday 25th August 7.30pm. The Garage Sale will be on the
30th August, all items can be sent into the school. For larger items phone
the school. On the 11th October is the Fun Walk from Bayly’s Beach
and on the 20th September is the DPS Fashion Show.
LIBRARY
The Library has many new books in need of covering, if you can spare some
time to help out it will be greatly appreciated.
BIBLE
For senior syndicate children with parental permission Bible lessons will
be this Thursday in the School Hall from 12-12.30pm. If any parents/caregivers
have changed their mind and want their children to attend Bible, send
a signed note to their teacher.
TALENT QUEST
On the 8th August in the School Hall at 6—9pm. Entry is a gold coin
koha. The PTA will be selling refreshments.
BOARD & STAFF MEMBER PROFILES
This week we introduce to you:
Joan Hartle
Joan has been here since 1997. She wears a number of hats closely related
to Special Needs. She teaches and has responsibility for the Reading Recovery
Programme, leads the Enhanced Programme Fund which has resulted in the
establishment of a number of support programmes for children with moderate
special needs and has responsibility for children with special abilities.
Joan and Keith’s children attended Dargaville Primary, the family
are now independent and Joan is enjoying the freedom of rekindling old
and exploring new hobbies.
Priscilla Sowter
Priscilla has worked here for a year teacher aiding in the special needs
unit. She also does caregiving and home support work through the I.H.C.
In her spare time she enjoys fishing and bottle digging.

DENTAL CLINIC
Please return all consent forms asap. Always brush teeth before going
to bed. The saliva doesn't wash around our teeth when we sleep.

SCHOOL RUGBY PRACTICE
A reminder to all children who attend lunchtime rugby practices, you should
bring a spare set of clothes to change into after rugby.
ROOM 15
Is in need of thermal backed curtains to cover the windows when videos
are being shown. If you have any old unused curtains we could have it
would be much appreciated.

OTHER NEWS AND EVENTS.
ROLLER DISCO
At the Multiplex on the 8th August 6—9.30pm, cost $4 which includes
all gear hire. For all ages up to Form 2, chips, juices and lollies will
be for sale.
MEADOW FRESH SEEDLING SWAP
Children under 12 can take an empty 1 litre Meadow Fresh Milk cardboard
carton to Duck Creek Garden Centre or any other participating Garden Centres
and Nurseries on 9th and 10th August 2003 and swap it for a used Meadow
Fresh milk carton that contains a native seedling. One seedling is permitted
per child. The children are also given a Meadow Fresh plant tag to write
their name on plus a free growth chart to measure their own growth. Children
can choose to plant their native seedling plant at home, at school or

MOBILE EAR CLINIC
The clinic will at Woolworths on the 18th August from 9am to 3.30pm. No
appointment necessary
