DPS NEWS
BIBLE
Bible will be starting this Friday 23rd. Junior classes will be the first
to attend this session, starting at 12 o’clock. If you have not
returned your form, then your child will continue on with normal class
work. .
SCHOOL PHOTOS
These are being done on Thursday 22nd May. Late forms will be accepted
until 8.30am tomorrow morning.
AFTER SCHOOL
There have been a number of children left to play on the school playground
unsupervised in recent weeks. We would like to remind parents that all
children should leave the school immediately after school closes and that
the school does not provide after school care and children should not
be left alone in the school grounds.
BUS TRAVEL
The bus service only provides for children that regularly travel on the
bus, any extra children (friends) cannot travel on the bus and you will
have to make arrangements to transport them yourselves.
Also a reminder to parents that if your child is not traveling on the
bus to phone the school or send a note to your child’s teacher.
Often we get conflicting stories from children who say they should/not
be going on the bus, because they have overheard a conversation at home
which has not been finalised. This puts us in an awkward position of whether
or not to send them on the bus. As you can appreciate we don’t want
to send a child home, if no one is there, and we don’t like to hold
a child at school only to find out that they should have been on a bus.
WINTER ILLNESSES
With winter coming on and many illnesses around, please be aware of meningitis
and if in doubt take your child to the doctor. They may be very sick if
they show one or more of the following:
* have a fever
* refuse drinks or feeds
* sleepy or floppy or harder to wake
* crying or unsettled
* a rash/spot
* a headache
PTA NEWS
Our last meeting was held in the staff room at 3pm. Fundraising for this
year was discussed and a Pizza Drive will take place this term. Details
will follow soon. During last week a small dedicated team of mum’s
spent 3 days (and evenings) covering 600 dictionaries recently purchased
for all the classrooms. (The BOT and teachers appreciate your help).
We have recently purchased approximately $1300 worth of classroom games,
which are used frequently, especially during wet lunchtimes.
Our main fundraiser goal is to raise $10,000 towards putting a covered
walkway up for rooms 16,17 and 18 to keep the children dry.
Sausage sizzles are weekly on a Friday. $1 for sausage, bread and sauce.
DENTAL CLINIC NEWS
The dental team, Bev and Jodie have relocated to the Dargaville Intermediate
Clinic. To make an appointment you can phone them on 439-8321.
Remember that your teeth are the first thing people see when you are talking
to them, so ALWAYS clean them.
ELECTRICITY CRISIS
The School is participating in “Target 10%” to save our share
of electricity by turning off lights.
Tip: Take showers instead of baths, and a shorter shower saves heaps of
power.
Only have the lights on in rooms you are in.
