Helpers are required at the NW Swimming Sports day to cook and sell sausages
and drinks, phone the office if you can spare a couple of hours on the
11th March. The PTA’s first fundraiser for the year is a Pizza Drive.
Order forms will be sent out next month.
Invitation to all parents/caregivers of Junior Syndicate:
You are invited to the AGM of the PTA on the 2nd March. This is an opportunity
to meet other parents/caregivers and you don’t have to be afraid
that we will give you more work than you already have.
We are all mothers who are over-worked and under-appreciated. What we
want to do has been (more or less) planned already. New ideas would be
appreciated and a good laugh can just do the thing.
Meeting starts at 7.30 in the DPS Staff room, followed by a cuppa at Blah’s
after. See you there. All welcome.

A roll of eligible voters is currently being compiled. You may check to
see if you are on this roll by phoning or calling in to the school office
between 9am and 3pm.
Nomination forms will be sent home on 5th March. If you wish to stand
in the election you must complete and return these to the School Office
by Noon March 19th .
TE KORU PUAWAI AOTEAROA
Nau Mai Haere Mai
Stand and be counted “E Tu Tangata” is the message that both
Te Koru Puawai & NZSTA in partnership will be promoting throughout
the elections 2004. Maori involvement & participation is being encouraged.
We welcome all whanau whaanui to attend.
REIONAL HUI: 25th February 2004, Powhiri 1pm—5pm at Whangarei Terenga
Paraoa Marae in Porowini Avenue.
An opportunity to meet face to face with some of the whanau and Kaumatua
of Te Koru Puawai o Aotearoa who have been at the helm developing, creating
and spearheading initiatives for Whanau Maori trustees. Please register

DPS SWIMMING SPORTS
We will need helpers for the timing of races, please phone the office
if you can help. All senior syndicate children and children in the middle
syndicate aged 8 as at the 1st January 2004 and able to swim a length
of the town pool will be going to swimming sports on Monday 23rd February.
Any queries contact your child’s teacher. All children swimming
must bring their lunch as lunch orders will not be delivered to the pool
but sausages and drinks will on sale at the pool for $1.00 each.
Haera ra: said if you are farewelling someone who is leaving.
Whanau Committee meeting 19th February 3.30pm in the DPS Staffroom. All
friends and Whanau of the school are welcome.

FIELD DAYS FESTIVAL
March 5th at Victoria St and Hokianga Rd intersection 5pm—10pm.
Stalls, singers and children’s entertainment.
Join in the fun.
We are now taking bookings for our before and after school OSCAR programme
which we run at Selwyn Park Primary. Ritchies bus service provides transport
from DPS to Selwyn Park. Ages are from 5-10yrs. Lots of fun and excitement
and homework time offered also look out for our school holiday programmes.

‘TAHA AWA’ GARDENS
Join us to celebrate the official opening with an Art Beat. Free entry
10am—3pm on the 20th March. A great family day out with Art, sculpture,
hand crafted jewellery, craft entertainment and cuisine.
Starts up again on Thursday 19th Feb, meeting at the Dargaville Baptist
Church, 185 Victoria Street. 5yrs—15yrs starts at 3.30 – 5pm.

KAURICOAST SURFCASTING CONTEST
Dargaville Primary has been nominated as a recipient for a share of any
profit made from this event. A great family day out with children’s
activities, quick fire raffles and an all day barbeque. To be held on
Saturday April 3rd 2004 on Ripiro Beach centred at Omamari Gap. Tickets
$30 and Junior section 12 years and under is free entry. Prizes valued
at over $15,000 including spot prizes.

MIYACI KAN KARATE
Karate is now regarded as one of the best personal development programs.
Karate offers discipline, respect friendship, self belief, and self-defence.
