ABSENT CHILDREN
It is the parents/caregivers responsibility to contact the school if your
child or children are absent from school. Phone 439 7255
PTA MEETINGS
There will be two meetings in the DPS staffroom next week, Monday 9th
Feb at 7.30pm and Wednesday 11th Feb at 2.15pm. The reason for two meetings
is to cater for all parents. So please attend one of these meetings as
your support is much appreciated.
ICEBLOCKS AND JUICES
These are available at lunchtime for children to buy at .70c.
MEET THE SNAZZY SENIOR SYNDICATE TEAM
All parents are invited to attend an afternoon to meet the syndicate teachers
and have a chat with your child’s classroom teacher. This will be
held in the school staffroom at 3.15pm on Wednesday 11th February. We
will promptly start at 3.15pm and each teacher will discuss aspects of
our syndicate programmes after which teachers and parents will head off
to their classrooms so that you can have a quick chat. At 3.45pm everyone
is invited back to the staffroom for refreshments.
SHOWTIME
On the 16th Feb a highly recommended “Kahurangi Dance Theatre”
is coming to our school to present a show “People of the Pacific”.
The performers present the voyage of the Takitimu canoe through Polynesia
to Aotearoa during the great migration. This programme includes traditional
dances from Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa and the Cook Islands. The $2.00 per
child entry fee can be handed to their classroom teacher. We would encourage
everyone to attend and enjoy this presentation.
SENIOR SYNDICATE AUCKLAND TRIP
As part of the Senior Syndicates science focus for the term on “Endangered
Animals” they will be going to Auckland for an overnight trip. Rooms
6 & 17 —- 18th & 19th March
Rooms 7 & 16 —- 25th & 26th March
The cost for this trip is $125.00 per child. Please pay to the office.
PLEASE NOTE
The NW Swimming Sports will now be on 11th March not 5th March.
BOT ELECTIONS
Important Dates:
• March 3rd – School Rolls close
• From March 5th – Nominations of Candidates called for
• March 17th – Supplementary roll closes
• March 19th – Nominations close, 12 noon
• March 24st – Voting Papers sent to eligible voters (if an
election is required)
• April 2nd – Voting closes, 12 noon
April 8th Votes Counted and results ascertained
A roll of eligible voters is currently being compiled. You may check
to see if you are on this roll by phoning or calling in to the school
office between 9am and 3pm.
Nomination forms will be sent home on 5th March. If you wish to stand
in the election you must complete and return these to the School Office
by Noon March 19th .
The term is for three years. Our election coordinator is Heidi Dreyer,
if you have any questions please phone Heidi on 439-0078, or alternatively
you can phone any of the current Board members for information.

MULTIPLEX
“FRIGHT NIGHT”
Friday 13th February, 6.30pm—9.00pm. Water bomb wars and free sausage
sizzle, bring a change of clothes. Cost $5.00
DARGAVILLE KEA SCOUTS
Starting Thursday night at the Scout Hall, Onslow Street. Open to both
boys and girls from 6-8yrs old. We meet to have fun, enjoy stories and
games 4—5pm. For any inquiries phone Linda 439 1858 nights.
PARENTING SEMINAR
John and Naomi Cowan will be hosting a “Hot Tips For Parenting Seminar,”
in Dargaville on Wednesday 31st March & Thursday 1st April in the
Dargaville Town Hall. Registration 7pm with 7.30pm start. The cost for
both evenings is $15 per person and a seminar manual is sold separately
on the evening. These evenings have proved highly popular in the past.
They are an opportunity for parents to collect fresh ideas and new skills
in a relaxed and non-threatening environment. The seminars are designed
to provide heaps of fun and humour, and there will be spot prizes during
the evening.
TE REO
Ka Kite: informal meaning for goodbye. Whanau Committee meeting 19th February
3.30pm in the DPS Staffroom. All friends and Whanau of the school are
welcome.
OSCAR PROGRAMME
We are now taking bookings for our before and after school OSCAR programme
which we run at Selwyn Park Primary. Ritchies bus service provides transport
from DPS to Selwyn Park. Ages are from 5-10yrs. Lots of fun and excitement
and homework time offered also look out for our school holiday programmes.

KIDS TRIATHLON
The Advocate and Allens Triathlon is to be held on the 14th March at Onerahi.
There will be no team events only individuals. The emphasis is on participation
rather than winning and entry fee is $10 per child, each competitor will
receive a race pack including a t-shirt and other goodies. All they require
for the event is a bike (any bike is okay as long as it has been safety
checked) and a pair of running shoes. Entry forms are available from the
school office.
GIRLS BRIGADE
Starts up again on Thursday 19th Feb, meeting at the Dargaville Baptist
Church, 185 Victoria Street. 5yrs—15yrs starts at 3.30 – 5pm.
All girls welcome, this is a fun Christian programme. For more information
